Physiotherapy is particularly beneficial if you have been affected by major trauma, experienced surgery or have an orthopaedic condition or neurological condition such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis or stroke.

Benefits of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy can help with recovery from injury, surgery or illness, or enhancing daily living by promoting, maintaining, and restoring movement and physical function using various techniques and strategies including exercise, stretching and task-specific practice.

Using the expertise and knowledge of our physiotherapists you can create strategies to continue participating in activities of daily living and achieve your goals including:

  • Improving strength
  • Improving joint range of motion
  • Improving mobility and balance
  • Improving confidence
  • Reducing pain and stiffness
  • Reducing the risk of future injuries

What's involved

To develop your individualised program, your physiotherapist will work with you to assess your condition and understand your rehab goals. The program may involve:

Functional Practice: getting up from a chair and transferring from bed to a chair
Retraining of walking: which may include prescribing walking aids and orthoses
Balance analysis and treatment of balance disorders
Stairs retraining
Outdoor mobility practice
Treatment of spasticity
