Occupational therapy can help you if you have a physical, psychological, neurological, or orthopaedic condition that hinders your ability to do everyday tasks.

Occupational therapy aims to help maximise functional independence in everyday tasks such as personal care; household tasks such as preparing food, cleaning, laundry, and gardening; getting into the community by car or public transport; engaging in leisure activities and returning to work or education. Occupational therapy can also help with cognition including memory, planning, and organisation.

What's involved

Our occupational therapy plan is unique and customised to suit your specific needs. Your occupational therapist will focus on improving your ability to do everyday tasks and provide you with a safe living environment so you can return to your previous lifestyle as much as possible.

This may mean practicing new or alternative ways to improve daily living skills, providing equipment, cognitive strategies, or even or consulting on home modifications or assistive technology and equipment.

Retraining of transfers including bed, toilet, shower, chair, and car.
Upper limb therapy for spasticity and hypertonicity management, coordination, strength and fine motor skills.
Assessing and retraining activities of daily living including showering, toileting, dressing and feeding.
Increasing ability to complete domestic tasks such as meal preparation, household cleaning, laundry, shopping.
Cognitive assessment and retraining.
Prescribing aids to achieve independence.
Prescribing wheelchair and seating.
Car modifications and adaptation recommendations.
Home assessment, recommendations for home modifications and prescription of equipment for safety in the home.
Community access e.g. using public transport, grocery shopping and engaging in social groups
